Carhartt Shoes
Founded in 1889 by Hamilton Carhartt in Detroit, Carhartt began as a manufacturer of clothes for railroad workers, creating overalls out of denim and duck that were durable, long-lasting and flame-resistant.
Still found on job sites, Carhartt transcended into fashion territory in the 70s and 80s with the advent of grunge and punk, and later in the 1990s with rappers. This led to the Carhartt Work in Progress (WIP) line, which launched in 1994, and sold products from the brand outside of the US for the time. The authentic work wear products were re-interpreted for urban European life, creating clothing that remained true to Carhartt’s core values.
